This lecture series aims to explore the mental, epistemological, and behavioral dimensions of uncertainty and its existential implications. Through moderated panel discussions with short input presentations, sessions will bring together experts from natural sciences, philosophy, economics, cognitive sciences, social sciences, and cultural studies. The focus will be on how different disciplines define, investigate, and manage uncertainty, fostering dialogue between historically oriented, theoretical, and empirical fields of knowledge.
Topics include the nature of complex systems, societal and individual strategies to manage uncertainty, regulatory responses, ethical issues, and the understandings of uncertainty in various cultural and philosophical traditions.
These perspectives have substantial practical implications. Understanding uncertainty affects decision-making, ethical frameworks, and strategies for resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing world.
