Beyond Carbon: Debating the Future (10SMSTSo101)
Description
In this interactive lecture series, students discuss key issues relating to decarbonisation with experts from academia, politics and practice: What are the biggest hurdles on the path to climate neutrality and what solutions are already available today? The format combines short keynote speeches with open debates, group work and international exchange. The aim is to jointly develop practical strategies and position the University of Zurich as an active contributor to global climate transformation.
The seminar aims to:
- Facilitate a multi-disciplinary dialogue on decarbonization challenges and solutions
- Actively engage students as part and driver of the decarb UZH strategic project
- Create tangible value for participants in the form of a sustainability micro-credential
- Post-process the discussions into accessible formats to maximize reach and impact
This lecture series will be an online format. The module will feature contributions from distinguished experts, including: Prof. Dr. Katarina Michaelowa, Prof. Dr. Michael Coors, Prof. Dr. Gabriela Schaepman-Strub, Prof. Dr. Maria J. Santos, Prof. Dr. Ernst Fehr, Prof. Dr. sc. nat. Michael Schaepman, Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Voth. In addition, further invited speakers will include leading scientific experts, political decision-makers, and climate activists, ensuring a broad range of perspectives and expertise.
