Social Innovation for Development & Sustainability (10SMHOPE)
Description
This project-based interdisciplinary course focuses on social innovation. The objective is to engage students in context-sensitive learning environments - refugee camps in this case - that are tailored to real-world needs. The teaching materials are co-designed with the University of Geneva (UNIGE). They are structured in a modular format to facilitate easy-to-follow and systematic learning. For example, an introductory session on value-based innovation and a design thinking approach will be included, leveraging existing resources within UZH (e.g., EVSET course funded by the 2021 ULF Open Innovation) and beyond (e.g., Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Strategy course by Harvard Business School). Students at UZH will work with peers at UNIGE and the refugee learners on case studies to gain firsthand insights into technology for development (T4D). All students will be encouraged to reflect on their own experiences to propose T4D solutions for social good.
