School for Transdisciplinary Studies

Credit Transfer Eligibility

Courses offered by the School for Transdisciplinary Studies (STS) count toward the degree in many study programs.

For more information, please consult your faculty:

Faculty of Science

Generally, all STS modules are eligible for credit transfer to the study programs of the Faculty of Science, provided that these include a free elective area.

Faculty of Medicine

In individual STS modules, the credits earned can be transferred to the specialized study of human medicine from the second to the fourth year of study. The requirements are that the modules be comparable in scope to those of the specialized study and do not collide with the regular schedule of the medical studies of the respective semester. No dispensations will be granted.
To assess credit transfer eligibility towards the specialized study, a written application must be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine, addressed to the program director of specialized study. The application must be submitted prior to the start of the course and no later than 15 days before the start of module booking.

For more information, please contact Sonja Metzger, Office of Student Affairs Medicine, Tel.: 044'635'53'24.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

If STS modules are connected to the respective study program, credits earned will be transferred toward your degree. Whether a study program is connected or the module is transferable, you can see if the STS module is listed in the course catalogue under your study program (major or minor).

Faculty of Law

STS modules may be transferred to the degree (Bachelor of Law UZH and Master of Law UZH) to the extent of a maximum of 6 ECTS credits. Further information can be found here

Selected STS modules are creditable to all study programs at the Faculty of Theology under the section "other curricular modules". Each semester, the faculty decides which modules to include.

The module is transferable, if the STS module is listed in the course catalogue under your study program (major or minor).

Selected STS modules are creditable at the Vetsuisse Faculty in the elective area at Bachelor level (1st year of study). Each semester, the faculty decides which modules to include.

In the course catalogue you will see that the modules have already been linked to the corresponding study programs.
