Citizen Science II: From theory to practice

Module code

10SMCS

Provider

Participatory Science Academy (PSA)

Description

"Citizen Science" (CS) enables the involvement of citizens in scientific research projects. The range of CS projects is broad and ranges from selective involvement for data collection to participatory co-creation of projects and knowledge. After the introductory module in the fall semester, the follow-up course offers students the opportunity to gain insights into the specifics of participatory research processes using concrete project examples from different study disciplines. A special focus lies
on the topics of communication and community management.
The course encourages students to think about the connection to their own field of study and makes application possibilities visible in the context of student work. During the module, students work on their own potential project idea and develop it further on in the course based on the various guest inputs.

A number of experts from the field offer insights into the various topics in the form of guest inputs. Most of the module takes place on site, individual guest inputs may take place online (Zoom).
